Please list up to 3 accomplishments that have prepared you to become a music major
I have been a State KMEA Mixed Choir participant 2020 and 2022, and was listed as an alternate in 2021. Lead roles in Parsons High School productions of Bright Star as Daryl, Mamma Mia as Sam, and Sweeney Todd as Benjamin Barker (Sweeney Todd). I am a four-year section leader in Music Company, the top choir at PHS.

Very musical - good tone quality in low voice.

Katelyn Valdez:
Danza, danza, fanciulla gentile by Durante from 24 Greatest Hits
Soliloquy by John Work from Anthology of Art Songs by Black American Composers
Ethan Florence:
Deep River by Burleigh
The Roadside Fire by Vaughan Williams

Aaron wrote to me and said that they both have two pieces prepared. I asked him what the pieces were, just to make sure they are appropriate. I can infer that Katelyn has one that is a foreign language, but Ethan has two contrasting English pieces. I think he told the students that he would take care of the video and submitting their info, so I don't think the students are to blame for the issues. If they have two art songs, are you ok inviting them?
amy
I agree with Patricia. For BME or Performance that is not MT they need to submit a recoding acceptable to solo and ensemble.

That's a great idea Reg!

I agree with Patricia's statements, but I voted to accept anyway since I think it's probably too late to ask them to re-submit a recording. Should we invite them to campus for the auditions so we can hear a better audition ? I can reach out to Aaron and find out if they are hoping for a scholarship audition, and will they be prepared with art songs, etc. or if we should ask them to re-submit a video? What do you think?
Patricia
I'm not thrilled with the recordings that Aaron is sending up to us of his students—the sound quality is not great, and it doesn't follow what we are asking them to send, especially since they are both interested in BME and not MT. Seems a little lazy and presumptive. If they are serious about coming up and want to be considered for some of our precious few scholarships, they can follow application directions. (My cranky two-cents.)
Bryan
This another of Aaron's students. I don't know if he is planning to come to campus as well next week with the other girl from Parsons, but perhaps.
